International candidates who are currently a senior in a high school or have already earned a high school diploma that is equivalent Turkish High Schools and who satisfy the application criteria below may apply for undergraduate programs at Koç University.
General Requirements
Applications of the following candidates who are currently enrolled as a senior student in a high school or have already earned a high school diploma will be taken into consideration provided that they fulfil the following conditions;
- Holding a foreign nationality,
- Being a native-born Turkish citizen that has ceased to be a citizen by courtesy of the Ministry of Interior and can certify that she/he holds the official document for the use of rights granted by Law no: 5203,

- Being a Turkish citizen who has completed last three years of his/her high school education in a foreign country other than TRNC,
- Being a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) citizen that resides in TRNC, has completed his/her high school education in TRNC and has taken GCE AL exam.
Applications of the following candidates will not be taken into consideration;
- Turkish citizens (excluding the ones that have completed last three years of their high school education in a foreign country other than TRNC),
- TRNC citizens (excluding the ones that have completed their whole high school education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam),
- Applicants who hold dual nationality one of which is Turkish (excluding the ones that have completed last three years of their high school education in a foreign country other than TRNC),
- Applicants who hold dual nationality one of which is TRNC(excluding the ones that have completed their whole high school education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam),
- Turkish citizens that have completed their high school education in TRNC.
Required Documents for Application
All application documents and all the required enclosures must be submitted in a closed envelope. Applications with missing documents are not taken into consideration. It is the applicant’s responsibility to send the complete and accurate required documents on time.
The required documents are listed below.
- Application Form,

- The paper copy of the exam result or diploma grade (YÖS, SAT, GCE, International Baccalaureate, etc.) should be presented,
- Personal Essay,
- Two recommendation letters,
- If available, the photocopy of the High School Diploma and its Turkish translation if the original diploma is not in English.
- Official transcript of the high school courses and grades sealed and approved,
- If taken before, a paper copy of the language proficiency exam score,
- The undergraduate admission non-refundable application fee of 150TL (Turkish Lira). Please attach the paper copy of the receipt to the application package as a proof of payment. Please see important notes for bank and account details.

Acceptable Exams and Diplomas and Minimum Eligibility Scores and Grades
Only the exams and diplomas listed below will be acceptable. An applicant should have the minimum acceptable score and grade from the exam or diploma to complete the application. It is not possible to apply by using any other exam.

Quotas
Quotas for international student applications for Academic Year 2012-2013 will be announced when it is determined by The Council of Higher Education.
Application Evaluation
Application documents are evaluated by the relevant Faculty. Interviews may be arranged with the candidate via e-mail or telephone if necessary.
Required Documents for Registration
Candidates who have received acceptance from Koç University need to provide the following required documents to Registrar’s Office for enrollment between predetermined dates on the Academic Calendar;
- Documentation of original Test Scores (SAT I, GCE, ACT, etc.),
- The original of the high school diploma and its Turkish translation (The diplomas should be officially translated by an accredited translator and attached to the original),
- High School Diploma Equivalency Certificate from the Turkish Ministry of Education (Talim Terbiye Kurulu BaÅŸkanlığı) or from a Turkish Consulate in the applicant’s home country,
- Photocopies of the applicant's passport with photograph affixed, identification information, and a copy of the page containing the student visa. The Student Visa is compulsory for all international students. It can be obtained from a Turkish Consulate in the applicant's home country by presenting the letter of acceptance,
- A photocopy of the first seven pages of the valid Residence Permit (obtained from the Bureau of Foreign Residence),
- 2 passport size (4.5 x 6 cm) photos (taken in the last 6 months, head and neck open, clearly identifying the person) and three more passport size photographs for the dormitory application,
- The x-ray of the lungs,
- To complete registration students need to pay the tuition for the semester,
- The original score of the language proficiency exam (if you submitted the copy during the application.),
- Financial assurance for education in Koç University.

IMPORTANT NOTES
Proficiency in English
Since English is the language of instruction at Koç University, it is essential that you demonstrate competence in the language. Students who submit a valid English Proficiency Exam Result will be exempted from English Preparatory Class and will directly start their undergraduate courses.
Please see the chart below for the exams accepted by Koç University and minimum exam scores.
Institutional TOEFL (ITP) exam score administered by the ELC
Students with TOEFL/TWE score of 550/4 or above will be promoted to their academic programs.
External Exam Scores
Students can be exempted from ELC provided that they present mininum following scores of the external exams given below.

TOEFL IBT: 80 WRT:20
TOEFL CBT:213 IELTS (Academic Module) 6.5 (minimum of 5 per section)
KPDS/ÜDS: 87

Personal Essay
The written expression of your qualities as an applicant will often be a very important way for Faculty members to get to know why you are an acceptable candidate for their program.
Certifying Copies of your Original Documents
The required copies of school certificates and/or degrees should be certified by the issuing school or university as genuine copies of the original; you can also have copies certified at any notary public office. Please note that the required documents for registration without original statements or certified evidence of study results will not be taken into consideration. The diplomas and transcripts should be officially translated by an accredited translator and the translation should be attached to the original.

The application fee should be paid or transferred to the bank account below and the bank receipt should be presented along with the other documents. Money order, cashier's check, cash money or any other payment type cannot be accepted. An application fee sent by such payment types is not accepted and these applications are considered incomplete.
