Transfer Students

 

Eligibility and Application

A transfer student is expected to complete successfully at least one year (other than preparatory and support classes) of an undergraduate program in a Turkish institution or an accredited institution abroad and have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2,40 out of 4.

Transfer students will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • Quota availability
  • High-grade contribution to the program by the candidate
  • Quality level of the program the candidate is currently enrolled in
  • Quality of the candidate’s academic record and achievements

Submission Deadline for Application

External Transfer Students

Candidates who apply for external transfer should submit online form with all required documents by no later than August 3, 2018 for Fall 2018 admission.

Deadlines for Fall 2019 admission will be announced soon.

Internal Transfer Students

All documents regarding the application must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office by no later than August 3, 2018. Please refer to the contact information below.

The admission committee will begin evaluating applications from August 3, 2018 onwards.

Registration for admitted students will take place between 03-07 September 2018.

 

Tuition and Fees

For the 2018-2019 academic year, the tuition for the School of Medicine at Koç University is 105.500 Turkish Lira (TL), and for all other departments, including ELC (English Language Center), is 76.500 Turkish Lira (TL). This fee covers tuition and registration and also allows full use of the library, computer laboratories, and infirmary services. This fee does not include dormitories, book and living expenses.

* The School of Medicine accepts 4th-year and 5th-year transfer students as well. The quota for each class year is: 16 students from within Turkey and 8 International students.

 

 Internal Transfer Student Application

The application form must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.

  • Application Form: Applications are administered through this form. The candidate should fill out his/her personal and academic information, seal his/her photo on this form, sign it, and either email or fax it to the Registrar’s Office until the original is received. Please refer to Instructions for Filling out the Application form Electronically section if you encounter any problems.
  • There is no application fee for internal transfers

Instructions For Filling Out the Application Form Electronically

If you encounter problems with opening and filling out the application form, please make sure you have the updated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. The latest version can be downloaded for free at http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • Please save the application form on your computer using the “save” icon from the toolbar.
  • Open the saved document, right click and choose the “Add text or signature” option.
  • Choose “Add text” option from the right-hand side of the document. On the top, a bar will open.
  • You may begin typing on the pdf document.

External Transfer Student Application

While making an online application, you will need to upload the documents below:

  • If available, a paper copy of the language proficiency exam score. Please see Proficiency in English section
  • For Law and Nursing program candidates, a paper copy of the Turkish language proficiency exam score. Please see Proficiency in Turkish section
  • High School transcript or evidence of graduation. For high schools abroad, an official letter of accreditation issued by The Turkish Provincial National Education Directorates (“Denklik”) is required
  • An official copy of university transcripts
  • Copy of the ÖSYS score sheet for applicants transferring from universities within Turkey
  • Copy of the exam result or diploma grade for applicants from universities outside of Turkey. Please see Acceptable Exams and Diplomas and Minimum Eligibility Scores and Grades  for details. Please note that submitting an application without one of these exams or diploma grades or with a score below the minimum significantly diminishes your chances of admission
  • Achievement and/or Advanced Placement test scores (if available)
  • Syllabus for the courses completed in the university of the current undergraduate studies
  • Disciplinary Record Document from the university of current undergraduate studies
  • Copy of passport for students who apply from universities outside of Turkey
  • Bank receipt of the non-refundable application fee of 150 Turkish Lira (TL). The fee should be sent by bank wire transfer to

  • International transfer applicants from a university outside of Turkey should select “Transfer Student GPA – International Fall 2018”
  • International transfer applicants from a university in Turkey should select “Transfer Student GPA – within Turkey Fall 2018”
  • National transfer applicants from a university in Turkey should select “Transfer Student ÖSYM score – within Turkey Fall 2018”
  • International new students (freshman intake) from outside or inside of Turkey should select “International Student Fall 2018”

 

IMPORTANT: Applications with missing documents will not be taken into consideration. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit all required documents before the application deadline.

Proficiency in English

All students except those who are exempt from Koç University’s English proficiency requirements(*) are required to present the minimum following scores in one of the exams below:

  • TOEFL IBT: 80 WRT:20 – original test scores should be posted to Koç University – Institutional Code 0163
  • CAE: C
  • YDS: 80 (administered only in Turkey)

An Institutional TOEFL exam will be administered in September 2018 at Koç University during Registration Week. It will be offered to admitted students who have not achieved the scores given above.

(*) Students who are exempt from Koç University’s English proficiency requirements:

  • Students who have received their undergraduate education in a country whose official language is English for at least one semester and who completed the semester(s) with a passing grade average
  • Students who apply from a university in Turkey where all undergraduate courses are held in English and the university’s English proficiency requirements are at least equivalent to Koç University’s requirements

Proficiency in Turkish

Students who have applied for Law or Nursing programs will directly begin Turkish education if they approve that -within the framework of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages- their score is C1 or above at TOMER or Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Proficiency Exam.

Bank account information

The application fee should be paid or transferred to the bank account below and the bank receipt should be presented along with the other documents. Money order, cashier’s check, cash money or any other payment types cannot be accepted. An application fee sent by such payment methods is not accepted and these applications are considered incomplete.
