Transfer Students

 

Eligibility and Application

A transfer student is expected to complete successfully at least one year (other than preparatory and support classes) of an undergraduate program in a Turkish institution or an accredited institution abroad and have a minimum grade point of average (GPA) 2,40 out of 4.

Transfer students will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • Quota availability,
  • High-grade contribution to the program by the candidate,
  • Quality level of the program the candidate is currently enrolled in,
  • Quality of the candidate’s academic record and achievements

Submission Deadline for Application

External Transfer Students

Candidates who apply for external transfer should summit online form with all required documents by no later than July 1, 2017.

Applications received after July 1, 2017 will only be considered if there is quota left in the respective department. The final deadline of application is August 1, 2017.

Internal Transfer Students

All documents regarding the application must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office by no later than August 17, 2017. Please refer to contact information below.

The admission committee will begin evaluating applications from August 17, 2017 on.

Registration for admitted students will take place September 2017. The exact dates will be announced later.

Tuition and Fees

For the 2017-2018 academic year, the tuition for the School of Medicine at Koç University is 87.600 TL, for the School of Nursing is 13.000 TL, and for all other departments, including ELC (English Language Center), is 63.400 TL. This fee covers tuition and registration and also allows full use of the library, computer laboratories, and infirmary services.

Every academic year the committee that evaluates transfer undergraduate applications may offer a limited number of partial tuition scholarships (25%, 50% tuition fee waiver) to outstanding candidates based on academic merit. If you would like to be considered for an undergraduate scholarship please indicate this on your “Personal Essay”.

* School of Medicine accepts 4th-year and 5th-year transfer students as well. The quota for each class year is: 16 students from within Turkey and 8 International students.

 Internal Transfer Student Application

The application form must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.

Instructions For Filling Out the Application Form Electronically

If you encounter problems on opening and filling out the application form, please make sure you have the updated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. The latest version can be downloaded for free at http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • Please save the application form on your computer using the “save” icon from the toolbar.
  • Open the saved document, right click and choose the “Add text or signature” option.
  • Choose “Add text” option from the right-hand side of the document. On the top a bar will open.
  • You may begin typing on the pdf document.

If the problem persists, you may get in touch with the Registrar’s Office.

External Transfer Student Online Application

While making online application, you will need to upload the documents below:

  • If available, a paper copy of the language proficiency exam score. (Please see Proficiency in English section),
  • For Law and Nursing program candidates,a paper copy of the Turkish language proficiency exam score. (Please see Proficiency in Turkish section),
  • High School transcript or evidence of graduation. For high schools abroad, official letter of accreditation issued by Province National Education Directorates is required,
  • An official copy of university transcript
  • Copy of the ÖSYS score sheet for applicants from the universities within Turkey
  • Paper copy of the exam result or diploma grade for applicants from non-Turkish universities (Please click here Acceptable Exams and Diplomas and Minimum Eligibility Scores and Grades section for a complete list),
  • Achievement and/or Advanced Placement test scores (if available)
  • University syllabus for the courses completed in previous undergraduate studies
  • A copy of passport for students who apply from universities abroad
  • Bank receipt of non-refundable application fee of 150 TL. deposited to Yapı Kredi Bankası, Koç Üniversitesi Şubesi, Sarıyer – account no. TR63 0006 7010 0000 0000 428868 (No application fee for internal transfers)
  • An official accreditation statement from YÖK Yurt Dışı Denklik Bürosu, Bilkent, Ankara will be obtained by the Registrar’s Office for students who apply from universities abroad.

Applications with missing documents will not be taken into consideration. It is the applicant’s responsibility to send the complete and accurate required documents on time.

Proficiency in English

All students except those who are exempt from Koç University’s English proficiency requirements(*) are required to present minimum following scores of the exams given below:

  • TOEFL PBT: 550 TWE: 4
  • TOEFL IBT: 80 WRT:20
  • TOEFL CBT:213
  • YDS: 87
  • CAE: C

TOEFL test scores should be posted to Koç University code 0163.

An Institutional TOEFL will be administered in September 2016 (exact date to be announced later) at Koç University. It will be held for the applicants who have not achieved the scores given above.

(*) Students who are exempt from Koç University’s English proficiency requirements:

  • Students who have received undergraduate education in a country whose official language is English for at least one semester and who completed the semester(s) with a passing grade average
  • Students who apply from a university in Turkey where all undergraduate courses are held in English and the university’s English proficiency requirements are at least equivalent to Koç University’s requirements

Proficiency in Turkish

Students who have applied for Law or Nursing programs will directly begin Turkish education if they approve that -within the framework of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages- their score is C1 or above at TOMER or Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Proficiency Exam.

Bank account information

The application fee should be paid or transferred to the bank account below and the bank receipt should be presented along with the other documents. Money order, cashier’s check, cash money or any other payment types cannot be accepted. An application fee sent by such payment methods is not accepted and these applications are considered incomplete.
